WAW is rebranding to BankWAW
WAW Credit Union is preparing to rebrand our operations to trade as BankWAW from Wednesday 23 March 2022.
The Board and Management team are in the advanced stages of redefining the WAW brand after extensive research showed that people were often unclear about what a Credit Union does. This work emphasised the importance of modernising our presence in the market to remain relevant across a broad demographic.
The organisation will continue to be 100% customer-owned, run by the same local people, delivering great customer service, and supporting our regional communities. These changes to our brand reflect the products we offer but do not alter our legal or operating structure. Our values and approach to running the business will also remain unchanged.
Why are we making these brand changes?
Research conducted by the sector over many years has consistently found that there is a lack of understanding about what a Credit Union is, and what services we offer. This issue has only increased in prominence as the majority of the Credit Union/Building Society sector has added the word ‘bank’ into their brands.
Incorporating the word ‘bank’ into the trading name is therefore a significant step forward in the customer-owned banking journey, as it is important that people clearly understand the products and services being offered.
It is a move that only reinforces our steadfast position in the financial sector as we continue to effectively adapt and evolve in a competitive banking environment, with a commitment to serving people of all ages and backgrounds within our communities for many years to come.
What does this mean for WAW customers?
While our brand will start to look different over the coming months as we update our digital platforms, building signage and marketing materials, it is important to note that nothing else will change for our customers.
We’re committed to making this transition seamless for you and, from a practical perspective, all your details (account details and logins, Visa Cards etc) will remain the same – so you won’t need to change anything.
Want to learn more about the change?
This is an exciting time for WAW and our community, and we encourage you to reach out to the WAW team if you have any concerns or would like to learn more about the change.
WAW CEO, Michael Mack, and the Chair of the Board of Directors, Fiona Shanks, will also be holding a webinar on Wednesday 16 March 2022 at 5:30pm to discuss the change, and answer questions.
You can join the zoom meeting here.
You can also email any questions you have to info@wawcu.com.au and a member of our team will be in touch.
